The Department of Environmental Science was established in 2005 with Environmental Studies as a subject at all undergraduate levels and upgraded to the postgraduate level in 2009. It also offers Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety, Health and Environmental Management (PGD-ISHEM), Water Harvesting and Management System (PGD-WHMS), and Environmental Audit, ISO & Sustainable Development (PGD-EAISDC). The department also runs Value added courses and Generic Elective Paper. The department has a wellequipped laboratory with modern facilities and sophisticated instruments to measure a wide range of environmental parameters. Through our undergraduate and postgraduate programs, students engage in hands-on learning experiences, including fieldwork and internships, preparing them to make meaningful contributions to the field.A degree holder in Environmental Science can get a job in government and private organizations in fields like Teaching, Industries, Forest and Wildlife Management, NGOs, Pollution Control Boards, Town developer officers, Ground water departments, Ministry of Environment and Forest, and also work as an Environmental Scientists, Environmental Modelers, Environmental Biologists, Environmental journalists and many more. Along with all the academic activities, the department also undertakes extracurricular and co-curricular activities to create awareness and practical knowledge about our environment by organizing seminars, guest lectures, workshops,awareness programs, competitions and quizzes, educational tours and visits to empower individuals and communities to take responsibility for environmental stewardship in their own lives and beyond.
