Department of Microbiology : DBT STAR DEPARTMENT

The Department of Microbiology was established in 2019 to cater to the needs of students in frontier areas of Microbiology and to strengthen teaching and research in this arena. Laboratory of the department is enriching as it is equipped with advance instruments like ELISA Reader, cooling ultracentrifuges, PCR-thermocycler, BOD Incubator, LAF station, Spectrophotometer, UV transilluminator etc. The only mandates of the department are to shape microbiologists of excellent caliber with good technical and research skills to improve their employability in academia as well as industries.
'Microbiology' as applied biological science at graduate and post-graduate levels, comprises vast areas such as Medical Microbiology, Industrial and Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Agricultural and Environmental Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, Biosafety, Bioethics, IPR, Modern Microbiology is 'Cutting Edge' sciences. This expeditiously emerging dome will offer highly qualified manpower to industry and academia in the country. The department has dynamic and vibrant master's program in Microbiology that imparts understanding in an ingenious manner, assuring to educate fresh, fledgling minds to shape and create newer knowledge in turn. The students of the Microbiology are vibrant; who enthusiastically participate in departmental activities like presentations, industrial visits and field trips which will prepare them to enter into rapidly expanding careers in Microbiology with practical applications in business, industry, and medicine. The graduates from this department are already employed in various international and national academic, research and industrial organizations. Bearing in mind existing microbiological approaches and applications, the curriculum is designed to enlighten the students from basics to advance Microbiology.

Eligibility : 10+2+3 with 55% from any recognized University in Science Stream (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry)
Duration : Four Semesters (Two Years)

DBT STAR SCHEME

DBT has selected S. S. Jain Subodh P.G College under the DBT Star Scheme to strengthen the academic and physical infrastructure for enhancing research, teaching, product-oriented projects, networking with neighboring institutes. This Scheme acts as a gateway and acts as a catalyst in igniting young minds towards research.

FIST SCHEME

The Scheme “Fund for Improvement of S &T Infrastructure (FIST)” is intended to provide basic infrastructure and enabling facilities for promoting R&D activities in new and emerging areas and attracting fresh talents in institutions and millennium initiative of DST for promoting research in STEM. S.S. Jain Subodh P.G. College has been selected among the 16 colleges of India by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India for the grant.The current emphasis on the immensely successful FIST programme is for orienting it towards the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat by providing accessibility of the R&D infrastructure facilities.
