Statistics is used in many different fields such as business, medicine, biology, psychology and social sciences. Statistics is an integral part of our lives. It is used at the workplace and everyday life. At the workplace, statistics is often used to analyse what works best for a company's marketing strategy or how to distribute work among employees. Statistics serves as the backbone of data science, providing the necessary tools and techniques to extract meaningful insights from data. It plays a crucial role in data exploration, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, experimental design, sampling techniques,data visualization,and machine learning. With this aim in sight the department of Statistics inculcates in its students, skills for making informed decisions based on data by identifying patterns, predicting trends, and testing hypotheses. It allows them to avoid making uninformed assumptions and be confident in their decision-making process. The well-equipped department provides the tools and techniques necessary for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data. Through seminars and workshops, we aim to shape holistic personalities of our students.
